Luberon's treasure : The Bories & Spa
It is in the heart of Luberon, a region which captured my heart a few years ago, that the small village of Gordes is found. Known as one of “the most beautiful villages in France”, it has an amazing charm with its little stone alleyways, its castle and its country market ! The area is full of luxury establishments and only a few kilometers away, I had settle my suitcase down in the 5 star establishment of The Bories & Spa.
This luxury hotel has several attributes to charm its demanding guests but let's first discuss its exterior which contributes greatly to its charm : 8 hectares of olive trees, cypress trees and lavender bushes created a true rural atmosphere for us. We felt relaxed and ready to spend a few days in the surrounding nature. In addition, there is a large outside swimming pool with a panoramic view of the surrounding area and it was the perfect way to spend a few well-deserved hours pampering ourselves. Heated at 28°, it is a definite advantage for me. The sunbeds which are situated along the length of this immense swimming pool give a certain intimacy for guests which is very pleasant.
A handful of rooms only
The 34 rooms and suites make us want to chill ! We opted for the room called “Les Lys” which is quite modern and refined with its various tones of black and white with undercurrents of beige. The marble bathroom is another luxurious touch. In terms of the view, the terrace has 2 sunbeds which gives it another relaxing feel.
The decor has quite a local feel : not too contemporary but with a provencal chic style. The old stones are omnipresent like on the terrace we they are located (the typical norms of the village have been kept).
A small detour at the spa
300 m2 is completely dedicated to this place of relaxation and well being. With an interior swimming pool, a hammam and a sauna, the “Maison d'Ennea” has all the necessary tools for a moment of relaxation. It has an extensive menu of complex and international treatments such as the beauty treatment from Egypt, the Greco-Roman treatment or even the heart of Provence. I didn't have the opportunity to try it but visiting it make me a good impression.
Gourmet spot
In terms of the restaurants, Les Bories & Spa has become major player with its 1 Michelin star gastronomy restaurant and its bistro “L'atelier gourmand”. Unfortunately I was invited to dine outside which didn't allow me to taste the cuisine.
As you have probably noticed, this establishment is a perfect place to recharge the batteries. In addition, it is the ideal location to explore the various nearby villages and attractions. In terms of price, you'll quickly understand that when you are in Luberon, nights are very pricey but it is worth the detour …
