Château de Breuil in Normandy : Birthplace of Calvados

Florence Consul
By Florence Consul ·

Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, this red-tiled chateau has been occupied by numerous wealthy families, following one after the other. The chateau's distillery was created in 1954 and today produces a remarkable selection of calvados brandies.

The domain is truly a gem that you can explore through a guided tour about the production process of calvados (officially labeled AOC Pays d'Auge). You can stroll through the park with its lake and horses, but also through the cellars, where you'll learn about the complete calvados manufacturing process. Instructive and entertaining!
