In the heart of Osaka's vibrant Shinsaibashi district, Maison Dior rises majestically, embodying a perfect fusion of luxury and refinement. This prestigious address invites you to a complete immersion into the Dior universe, going far beyond mere luxury shopping. On the fourth floor, magic unfolds under the guidance of the star chef Anne-Sophie Pic, who infuses her menu with a delicate harmony between the excellence of French cuisine and Japanese inspirations. Here, every detail is meticulously orchestrated to transport the senses, marking the perfect encounter between haute couture and gastronomy.

A Floral Setting in Shinsaibashi

In Osaka, near the intersection of Midosuji and Nagahori-dori, the undulating facade designed by Sou Fujimoto distinguishes Maison Dior Shinsaibashi among the luxury boutiques of the district. Opened on May 21, 2026, this address unfolds the worlds of the Dior boutique before making way, on the fourth floor, for gastronomy. It is here that Anne-Sophie Pic signs the menu of the restaurant that bears her name, Monsieur Dior by Anne-Sophie Pic. To access it, an independent entrance situated away from the main street offers a discreet arrival, away from the hustle and bustle of Shinsaibashi.

Designed by Peter Marino, the décor pays homage to the gardens that inspired Christian Dior. Light hues and floral-patterned chairs blend with plays of light and mirrors to create a soft and luminous atmosphere. In the main room, a vast image of the Château de La Colle Noire, a beloved home of the couturier in the south of France, adorns a wall and invites escape. On the pristine white tablecloths, Dior tableware completes this setting where refinement retains a warm elegance.

Art accompanies the discovery of the House, from Karine Laval's installation on the boutique's ground floor to Jorge Galindo's canvas that adorns one of the restaurant's private salons. On the fourth floor, the main room is complemented by two private spaces, including a chef's table overlooking the kitchens, as well as a bar and a remarkable wine cellar. Artworks, floral evocations, and table arts thus extend Dior's imagination throughout the meal.

Anne-Sophie Pic, The Most Starred Chef in the World

An iconic figure in French gastronomy and the most starred chef in the world, Anne-Sophie Pic perpetuates in Valence a family legacy crowned with three Michelin stars for her restaurant since 2007. Delicate and daring, her cuisine revolves around the « Suffusion », a philosophy that explores the interweaving of aromas, flavors, and textures. At Pic Lab, her culinary research and innovation center, she refines with her teams this unique style, placing plants at the heart of her approach. From Berlingots to Millefeuille blanc, her iconic creations testify to this quest for balance. Discovered at the age of 21, Japan has deeply influenced her sensibility and remains an essential source of inspiration in the construction of her pairings.

In Osaka, Anne-Sophie Pic signs for Dior a poetic menu where haute French cuisine mingles with memories of her first trips to Japan. This collaboration resonates with her youthful dream of working in fashion: drawing from the House's archives and collections, she translates into flavors and volumes the lines of the cannage, the softness of the oval, or the bee and leopard motifs. La Toile Blanche, La Ruche, and Le Jardin Fleuri embody this couture imagination through a subtle play of textures and presentations. Tamari, dashi, rice vinegar, and buckwheat tea enrich the French repertoire with Japanese nuances. Conceived as a sensory awakening, this bespoke menu expresses a shared quest for harmony and emotion, at the intersection of Dior elegance and the chef's aromatic universe.

When Haute Cuisine Flirts with Art

The four-course lunch menu begins with a true explosion of flavors and textures, introduced by sophisticated amuse-bouches. The pistachio tartlet, delicately golden and sprinkled with pistachio pieces, offers a perfect harmony between crunch and softness. Alongside it, the squid taco appears as a small boat adorned with colorful flowers, adding a floral and elegant touch. Next, the beeswax bread and turmeric milk bread, the latter adorned with a leopard motif in homage to one of Mr. Dior's favorite prints, make their entrance. These breads are accompanied by Hokkaido butter enhanced with a hint of miso and ground coffee beans, enriching the tasting experience. This ensemble is magnificently paired with a non-alcoholic wine Eins Zwei Zero, Sparkling Riesling, which harmoniously complements these delicate creations.

My husband made the refined choice of the entrée L'Œuf Christian Dior, a culinary creation that brilliantly marries sophistication and artistic homage. At the heart of this creation is a soft-boiled egg, delicately wrapped in crispy aonori seaweed, resting on a bed of herb mayonnaise. This dish is elevated by a garnish of Oscietra caviar and fresh herbs, bringing a touch of luxury and refinement. The egg, as a timeless symbol, was chosen by Jonathan Anderson for the invitation to his first show for Maison Dior, and this dish reinvents this emblem with elegance and innovation. To perfect this culinary experience, it pairs ideally with a prestigious drink: the Royal Blue Tea KOICHIRO imperial.

As for me, I opted for La Toile Blanche, which unveils itself as an entrée of almost couture elegance. It is placed at the center of an immaculate plate where the Hokkaido scallop disappears beneath a satin almond veil, supple and delicate, reminiscent of the finesse of draped fabric. Anne-Sophie Pic composes here a minimalist yet vibrant whiteness, enhanced by a sake rice cream with citrus accents, while yuzu, hojicha, and rose geranium subtly bring freshness, roasted depth, and floral scent. Beside it, a creamy touch sprinkled with herbs and seeds subtly contrasts with the marine softness of the scallop, and the pairing with IRIKA sake prolongs this sensation of purity, silk, and precision.

The Leopard Berlingots, a culinary masterpiece by Anne-Sophie Pic for Monsieur Dior Osaka, present themselves as a visual and gustatory harmony. This signature dish, available in different flavors, is here presented in a unique version exclusive to Osaka. In an elegant white plate, these triangular ravioli, bearing a bold leopard print, are placed on a green emulsion of wasabi and perennial celery, poured just before tasting to guarantee powerful and fresh flavors. The 24-month aged Comté AOP from Jura delicately melts at the center, revealing notes of hazelnut, dried fruits, and caramel with a crystalline texture. Fresh edamame adds a touch of vegetal sweetness. To enhance the experience, a gyokuro tea accompanies the dish, served at two distinct temperatures: first at 15°C, preparing the palate for tasting with delicate freshness, then at 80°C, to accompany the dish itself. This tea, with its pronounced umami notes, harmonizes beautifully with the Comté, highlighting the elegance and complexity of the dish.

My husband continued with La Pelote, a refined culinary creation that revisits a French classic with a subtle Asian twist. The venison, carefully marinated in a blend of fresh mint and shiso, offers a delicately fragrant and fresh flavor. It is accompanied by a crispy potato, ingeniously stuffed with Thai green curry, bringing a herbaceous and invigorating note. To complete the ensemble, a fine mint powder is delicately sprinkled at the bottom of the plate, adding an extra aromatic touch, while a slowly reduced venison jus is poured at the time of service to intensify the flavors. The dish pairs harmoniously with the Royal Blue Tea KAHO, a refined and balanced beverage, ideal for enhancing this gastronomic experience.

For my part, I chose Les Pétales, a culinary masterpiece that marries the elegance of French techniques with the essence of Japanese ingredients. The poultry, imbued with the delicate flavors of sake lees after a two-day marinade, reveals tender and gently perfumed flesh. It is elevated by an artistic presentation where thin slices of Paris mushrooms, arranged in petal form, conceal a ravioli filled with wild mushrooms, bamboo, and shiso. This composition is complemented by a creamy purée of celery and pear, as well as wild mushrooms, adding sweetness and depth of taste. During service, a yellow wine sauce from Jura, with its nutty and spicy notes, is poured over the dish, enriching each bite with aromatic complexity. To crown this culinary experience, the dish is accompanied by a carefully chosen tea, the Queen of Blue from Blanc, offering a perfect pairing.

On the dessert side, my husband was tempted by the Millefeuille Blanc Pied-de-poule, a dessert that combines elegance and refined flavors, presented as a tribute to Dior's iconic patterns. This mille-feuille is distinguished by its houndstooth motif, evoking the origins of the Miss Dior perfume. Composed of seven delicate layers, it harmoniously marries a jasmine-scented jelly with a subtle touch of black pepper, all enveloped in a creamy vanilla custard. Both imposing and ethereal, this dessert releases, when cut, enchanting scents of vanilla and jasmine. Accompanied by a tangy jasmine cocktail, it offers a gustatory experience that ends on a note of sweetness and sophistication.

To conclude our meal, I opted for Le Papillon, a delicate creation that evokes lightness and sophistication. The floating island, presented in the form of an airy butterfly, gracefully rests on an orange blossom and jasmine scented custard. This silky base is elevated by pieces of apricot confit and presented in various forms, accompanied by touches of pineapple and banana. Edible flowers add a touch of color and freshness, while the harmony of the dish is magnified by the subtle pairing of an ume syrup and a sparkling wine.

To finish beautifully, the mignardises are presented on an elegant tray, offering a true delight for the eyes and palate. The rose tart stands out for its floral delicacy. Next to it, the yuzu meringue brings a touch of exotic freshness, sprinkled with edible flowers in vibrant colors. The chocolate shaped like a bee adds a playful and gourmet note, completing this refined trio. Each bite promises an explosion of flavors, combining sweetness, acidity, and a hint of chocolate bitterness.

My Opinion

The culinary experience offered by Monsieur Dior by Anne-Sophie Pic in Osaka embodies an exquisite marriage between haute couture and gastronomy, uniting the timeless elegance of Dior with the culinary ingenuity of the starred chef. Each dish, like a masterpiece, tells a story where French flavors blend delicately with Japanese influences, creating a symphony of tastes and textures that evokes both sophistication and innovation. Anne-Sophie Pic's creations, inspired by her love for Japan and her gastronomic heritage, transport diners on an exceptional sensory journey, where every detail is meticulously designed to delight the senses.
