Abbaye de la Bussière: An Atypical Luxury Hotel in the Heart of Burgundy

Deep in the heart of Burgundy is a unique hotel, a historical place that has traversed the ages. It is a gorgeous restoration that was undertaken by the owners Clive and Tanith Cummings when they acquired the Abbaye de la Bussière in 2005. A year later, the hotel opened to immediate success.

Within the exclusive offering of 12 rooms, 5 junior suites and 3 suites, the decoration is unique. We explore our Deluxe room, which is very elegant and spacious! Its view overlooking the park is splendid, and its classic-style furniture fits the overall ambience.

Late in the afternoon, we take a walk through the the seven hectares of park, where we discover the pigeon house dating from the 16th century, the pond, the house of the Sisters (which today houses two suites), the vegetable garden, the mill, and more.

It is now time to discover the cuisine of the gourmet restaurant Le 1131, awarded one Michelin star. The chef Guillaume Royer proposes generous and innovative cuisine, inspired of course by Burgundian influences. The dining room alone is worth the detour!

As for the menu, we have given the chef carte blanche, offering us the chance to discover his signature dishes and be transported to another world for a few hours!

Our journey continues at breakfast. It's served at the Bistrot des Moines, the second restaurant of the Abbaye de la Bussière. Various products from the region are on the menu, as are delicious homemade cakes and pancakes; we of course also find the classics of a gourmet breakfast there.
