Set in the prestigious Sugar Palace, a neo-baroque building from the early 20th century, the hotel is right next to the Jindřišská Tower and offers privileged access to landmarks such as the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, the astronomical clock, Charles Bridge, and the Mucha Museum. This unique location allows travelers to fully enjoy Prague's authentic atmosphere while staying in a refined, history-filled setting.

A Neo-Baroque Palace Reinvented

Andaz Prague is housed in the majestic Sugar Palace, a neo-baroque building constructed at the beginning of the 20th century and listed as a cultural monument. Its richly decorated facades, sculpted reliefs, and grand volumes give the hotel a unique historical aura. Architects and designers worked carefully to preserve this heritage, keeping original windows, doors, and fireplaces while integrating contemporary elements that harmoniously dialogue with the past.

The interior design, entrusted to Madrid-based studio Brime Robbins, draws inspiration from Prague's history and legends. Founding myths, medieval symbols, and artisanal traditions are expressed in every space. Lion head reliefs recall the legend of Prince Bruncvik, while other details evoke the Golem or the richness of Czech Art Nouveau. The choice of materials, such as solid wood, marble, and brass, shows special attention to finishes and infuses the atmosphere with refinement and warmth.

From the moment you enter, visitors are immersed in a poetic universe where history and modernity meet. The lobby is adorned with a blown-glass installation reminiscent of Prague's astronomical clock, while the mosaic floor and bronze-detailed elevators reference local craftsmanship. The reception impresses with its monumental counter inspired by a historic chest.

The Wintergarden Suite, A Unique Gem

Andaz Prague features 152 luxury rooms and 24 suites ranging from 44 to 130 m², each designed as a jewel box where Czech heritage meets modernity. Large windows let in abundant natural light and reveal superb views of the surrounding architecture. Spacious bathrooms, brass finishes, and golden touches highlight an elegant, contemporary style. Interior decoration showcases works by local artists, reinforcing the link with Prague's culture. Cream and purple tones, wooden parquet floors, and refined furniture create a warm, luxurious atmosphere. Every detail has been carefully considered to offer both comfort and inspiration, from custom-made furnishings to the complimentary minibar stocked with local specialties.

Among these exceptional spaces, the suites offer an additional level of comfort and character. They combine generous volumes, abundant light, and artistic touches that recall the city's rich heritage. They perfectly embody Andaz's philosophy: blending timeless elegance with contemporary design, in harmony with the spirit of the place.

We stayed in the Wintergarden Suite, a true 71 m² jewel with breathtaking city views. This unique suite charms with its octagonal veranda adjoining the main bedroom, bathed in morning light, perfect for enjoying breakfast in a peaceful atmosphere. High ceilings, an open living area, a king-size bed, and a dining table for four create an impression of grandeur and comfort. The bathroom is particularly remarkable: spacious and bright, it includes a double sink, an elegant bathtub, a large walk-in shower, and separate toilets.

An Exceptional Breakfast

Breakfast at Andaz Prague stands out for its refinement and variety. The buffet showcases a selection of fresh and flavorful products: beautifully presented seasonal fruits, smoked fish, crispy bread, and still-warm pastries, including traditional Czech recipes. On the healthy side, small jars of muesli, chia pudding, and colorful smoothies are offered. To complete the experience, an à la carte menu allows guests to order delicious, creative dishes, such as caramelized French toast with vanilla cream, fresh fruit, and walnut pieces — a true indulgence.

Local Flavors Elevated with Japanese Influences at ZEM

The restaurant Zem stands out as one of Andaz Prague's major assets. With its bright atmosphere, large bay windows overlooking the square, and décor mixing golden mirrors and retro-futuristic chandeliers, it reinterprets the spirit of Prague's grand cafés. Cuisine here is conceived as a true spectacle: chefs work over charcoal and steam in an open kitchen, offering diners an immersive experience. The menu celebrates ingredients from Bohemia and Moravia, enriched with refined Japanese touches, creating a bold fusion that reflects the creativity and elegance of the place.

We began the meal with a selection of starters that set the tone: creativity and authenticity. The first dish, takoyaki, honored Japanese tradition with soft little balls filled with pieces of octopus, topped with slightly sweet takoyaki sauce, creamy mayonnaise, and dried bonito flakes. Alongside, a bowl of edamame seasoned with togarashi chili and sesame oil added a lighter touch, combining crunch and vegetal freshness with a subtle grilled note. To continue, we enjoyed delicious pork gyoza, perfectly golden. Their thin, crispy dough enclosed a generous filling of tender pork, fragrant ginger, shiitakes, and spring onions, striking a fine balance between richness and freshness.

Main courses then confirmed the excellence of the table. The beef short rib, slowly braised until meltingly tender, was presented spectacularly, served on the bone. It was enhanced by a rich beef sauce spiced with anduja, whose slight heat contrasted with the freshness of a fragrant gremolata. A quenelle of pickle condiment completed the dish, adding a tangy note that balanced the generosity of the plate.

Meanwhile, the pork knuckle offered a modern take on a Central European classic. Slow-cooked to remarkable tenderness, it was coated in a creamy sauce enhanced by the liveliness of horseradish and softened by a fruity touch of apple. The garnish stood out with a crispy pork rind tuile, adding textural contrast, and toasted sourdough bread, perfect for savoring the sauce.

To conclude this dinner, desserts brought a true touch of poetry. The mango mochi charmed with its exoticism and play of textures: the elastic sweetness of mango mochi, the zest of passion fruit sauce, the freshness of coconut jelly, and the sparkle of yuzu pearls with matcha. Crispy sesame chips perfected this playful yet refined composition. Finally, the revisited blueberry tart offered an elegant, visually spectacular finale. On a crispy base rested a silky blueberry mousse topped with a refined openwork disk. Fresh blueberries, lemon gel pearls, and floral lavender notes added delicate freshness, while pine nuts provided subtle crunch. A quenelle of yogurt ice cream completed this harmony with lightness and freshness.

Additionally, the MEZ bar offers a more relaxed atmosphere and quickly becomes a favorite meeting place for travelers and locals alike. Inspired by Czech tradition, its name evokes the fields where peasants once gathered to rest, an idea reflected in the venue's convivial ambiance. Here, mixologists reinvent the art of the cocktail by combining modern techniques with Bohemian legends, creating original, balanced, and symbol-rich creations. Whether for a daytime coffee, a refined aperitif, or a late-night drink, MEZ perfectly embodies the spirit of sharing and conviviality at the heart of Prague.
