Nestled on the edge of the majestic Chao Phraya River, Capella Bangkok embodies a captivating blend of contemporary refinement and timeless charm. Since its opening in 2020, this 101-room gem has redefined urban elegance with its private waterfront villas, spacious rooms offering panoramic river views, and a culinary offering led by a Michelin-starred chef, placing it as one of the most luxurious hotels in the capital. Designed for sophisticated travelers seeking an escape full of finesse and originality, Capella Bangkok combines impeccable service with the warmth and unique charm of a boutique hotel.
A Haven of Peace on the Banks of the Chao Phraya River
Opened in 2020, Capella Bangkok is located in the dynamic Charoenkrung district, an emblematic area of Bangkok where tradition and modernity intersect. This location is not accidental, as Charoenkrung is Bangkok's first paved street, rich in deep cultural heritage where history and contemporary creativity mingle through trendy cafes, bars, and art galleries. Capella Bangkok offers a peaceful retreat with its lush gardens and stunning views of the Chao Phraya River. The location is ideal for travelers wanting to discover the soul and history of the Asian metropolis, while enjoying a luxurious refuge.
A Benchmark in Luxury Design
Capella Bangkok is a masterpiece of design, the result of collaboration among several experts in architecture and interior design. Hamiltons International is responsible for the exterior architecture, while BAMO orchestrated the interior layout, brilliantly merging classic and contemporary styles to reflect Bangkok's cultural dynamism.
The interiors, a true tableau of refinement, feature high-end materials such as marble floors, light woodwork, and mirrored surfaces, all adorned with complex sculptures and aquatic elements that add a touch of serenity. The Auriga wellness center, designed by GOCO Hospitality, and the city's first riverside villas, realized by PIA Interiors, confer a level of luxury unparalleled in Bangkok.
The integration of indoor and outdoor spaces is masterfully achieved through large bay windows that offer panoramic views of the Chao Phraya River from all areas of the property, including the 101 suites and villas as well as the restaurants. From the entrance, the presence of the river is majestically staged with a water lily pond that directs the gaze towards the opulent gardens and, beyond, the river.
Guests are welcomed into an exclusive inner sanctuary, the Living Room, designed to offer a residential ambiance where they can relax at any time, enjoying personalized service from check-in and savoring refreshing drinks or champagne.
Comfort and Stunning Views in my Riverfront Premier Room
Capella Bangkok offers an intimate experience with only 101 keys, providing each guest a luxurious and private escape. With a minimum area of 61 m², the rooms maximize comfort and view through large bay windows. The interior layout offers a cocoon of sophistication: soft hues, natural materials, local artworks, and marble bathrooms merge to create an atmosphere of serenity and luxury. We stayed in a Riverfront Premier room, located on the upper floors. Its residential elegance and unique view captivated us from the first moments. Each room benefits from a balcony or terrace, ideal for watching the river's bustle at dawn or relaxing at dusk while celebrating the beauty of the landscape.
For an even more luxurious experience, the Riverside villas, unique in Bangkok, offer vast gardens with private pools by the water, where luxury and privacy are elevated to the extreme, ensuring a memorable stay in the heart of the Thai capital.
A Waterfront Breakfast
At Capella Bangkok, breakfast truly feels like a holiday, served outdoors by the river. This experience allows guests to enjoy the lively spectacle while savoring an assortment of sweet and savory delights. The buffet, although reduced, offers a delicious selection of homemade pastries, fresh fruits, deli items, as well as Asian specialties. In addition, à la carte dishes enrich this culinary offering. We were particularly charmed by the originality of the dishes offered, like the unagi egg benedict, which perfectly blends Japanese flavors with a breakfast classic.
A Feast of Flavors
The gastronomy at Capella Bangkok is a true culinary exploration that celebrates both local traditions and haute cuisine internationally. At the Phra Nakhon restaurant, guests can savor authentic regional Thai cuisine, served in a contemporary and sunny setting directly on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. This place is perfect for those who wish to dive into the deep and authentic flavors of Thailand.
For a more refined experience, the restaurant Côte by Mauro Colagreco offers dishes inspired by the Riviera, all awarded a Michelin star. Under the direction of chef Mauro Colagreco, whose restaurant Mirazur in France is triple Michelin-starred, this table offers dishes of elegant simplicity, characterized by colorful and generous gourmet delights. A meal at Côte is an unforgettable gastronomic experience, as detailed further in a dedicated article (to read here: Côte by Mauro Colagreco: A Michelin Star Shines on Bangkok).
To complement the culinary offering, the cocktail bar Stella, with its Art Deco boudoir ambiance tinged with Asian influences, offers high-end delights such as caviar and oysters, accompanied by an impressive list of cocktails.
The Art of Tea Time at Capella Bangkok
Capella Bangkok elevates the Afternoon Tea experience to an exceptional level of luxury and celebrates the refined fusion of tea culture and French pastry. Executive Pastry Chef Sylvain Constans has designed a menu that promises a true celebration of the senses. The culinary adventure begins with a selection of teas from the prestigious French house Mariage Frères, prepared before our eyes, offering a personalized and intimate tasting moment.
The experience continues with an assortment of savory dishes, followed by traditional scones, served with jam and clotted cream. A dessert cart then makes its appearance, unveiling a variety of fine and seasonal pastries that incorporate Thai flavors, demonstrating the technical skill and creativity of the chef.
The Auriga Spa: A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation in Wellness
At Capella Bangkok, Auriga Wellness stands as a sanctuary of well-being that offers a 1,000 square meter space of serenity, decorated with modern Asian elements and surrounded by oriental gardens with a traditional tea lounge. Qualified therapists there combine ancestral practices and contemporary approaches to create customized treatments, blending traditional Thai, Chinese, Indian, and European expertise.
The spa features seven treatment suites, including two suites for couples, a vitality pool, water therapy facilities, and a relaxation lounge nestled in a lush garden by the water. We experienced the Luk Pra Kob, a traditional Thai couple's treatment that uses hot herbal compresses to relieve pain and combat fatigue. This treatment, stemming from a popular rural tradition with Ayurvedic origins, left us deeply relaxed and invigorated, demonstrating the expertise and unique ambiance of Auriga Wellness.
As for the pool, it's a charming place to relax and cool off between excursions. As some rooms and the villas have their own private pools, the hotel's pool is rather quiet, making it the perfect place to rest.
Exceptional Service at Every Step of Your Stay
The impeccable service is the trump card of Capella Bangkok. From the warm and professional greeting upon our car's arrival to the warm and professional staff during check-in in the Living Room, everyone is exceptionally welcoming. A personal 'Capella Culturist' is at our disposal throughout our stay, taking care of everything from presenting our room to organizing activities.
