In the heart of Marrakech, Riad Kniza embodies timeless elegance and the Moroccan art of living at its most refined. A true 18th-century jewel, this residence—passionately restored by master antique dealer Haj Mohamed Bouskri—combines historic charm, modern comfort, and warm hospitality. Nestled in the medina, close to the city's cultural treasures and iconic landmarks, the riad captivates with its authentic atmosphere, patios adorned with zellij, and suites with sumptuous décor. Here, every detail tells a story, every moment becomes an experience, offering guests a unique immersion into the soul of Marrakech.

A Privileged Location in the Heart of the Medina

The Riad Kniza enjoys an exceptional location in the heart of the medina, just steps away from Bab Doukkala gate. Its strategic position, between the legendary Jemaâ el-Fna square and the New Town, allows easy access to both the lively souks and historic monuments as well as the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. A rare privilege in Marrakech, the riad remains easily accessible by car, with taxis available only about a hundred meters away, offering ideal comfort for exploring the city's treasures.

The Timeless Charm of a Marrakchi Home

Nestled in the heart of the medina and dating back to the 18th century, Riad Kniza is a residence steeped in history that has regained all its splendor thanks to the craftsmanship of Morocco's finest artisans. Carefully restored by Haj Mohamed Bouskri, a renowned antique dealer passionate about heritage, the riad unfolds around three patios richly decorated with zellij and carved stucco, surrounded by majestic lounges, rest alcoves, and elegant rooms. Every space breathes authenticity: Berber rugs, delicate silks, embroidered curtains, and carefully selected antiques create an atmosphere both warm and refined, worthy of the great Marrakchi residences.

Riad Kniza tells a family story passed down for nearly two centuries. Under the guidance of Haj Mohamed, an exceptional host and guide who introduced Marrakech to personalities from around the world, this house has become a symbol of Moroccan art de vivre. From crackling fireplaces in winter, to mint tea served in shaded patios in summer, and soothing views from the lush terrace, the riad offers a timeless setting where tradition, luxury, and hospitality meet to deliver an unforgettable experience.

The Magic of an Authentic Moroccan Suite

Riad Kniza houses eleven unique rooms and suites, each decorated with art pieces and furniture carefully chosen by Haj Bouskri from his antique collection. From light drapes to cedarwood mashrabiya screens, from silk carpets to traditional Berber blankets, every detail contributes to recreating the opulence and authenticity of Moroccan homes of yesteryear. Depending on the chosen category—Deluxe Room, Junior Suite, or Senior Suite—guests enjoy elegant spaces with generous proportions, intimate lounges, majestic king-size beds, and marble bathrooms blending modern comfort with oriental refinement.

During our stay, we had the privilege of discovering the Kenza Senior Suite, a true haven of comfort and charm. Located on the second floor, it stands out with its spacious independent lounge adorned with traditional benches in shimmering fabrics and warmed by a blue zellij fireplace. The sand-colored walls, highlighted with sculpted stucco, host colorful artworks that bring a contemporary touch to the space. Large windows draped with heavy golden curtains filter soft light, creating an atmosphere both intimate and refined. The bedroom showcases a king-size bed dressed in deep red and purple textiles. Moroccan pierced lamps cast a subdued glow, enhancing the warmth of the materials and colors. With its private bathroom and 50 m² designed for comfort, this suite offers the experience of a refined apartment, ideal for enjoying both the luxury and authenticity of Moroccan art de vivre.

Authentic Flavors and Poetic Moments

At Riad Kniza, gastronomy goes beyond simple dining to become a true sensory experience, where tradition, refinement, and Moroccan hospitality meet. In the morning, breakfast is served generously, enjoyed on the sunlit terrace or in one of the shaded patios. Freshly baked homemade pastries, light crêpes, eggs made to order, and seasonal fresh fruits create a colorful feast that awakens the senses and gently starts the day.

But it is at dinner that Riad Kniza's culinary art reveals its full magic. Renowned for its authentic family recipes passed down from generation to generation, the house invites guests on a true culinary journey. Seated in one of the elegant dining rooms, we savored a multi-course menu, designed as a refined celebration of Moroccan traditions. The already intimate and warm atmosphere was enhanced by the mesmerizing music of Gnawa musicians, whose songs and rhythms accompanied each dish, adding a poetic and timeless dimension to this unique moment.

The meal began with a refined assortment of Moroccan salads with contrasting flavors, followed by crispy briouates subtly filled with meat and seafood. For the main course, two great classics of Moroccan gastronomy were served: a chicken tagine with preserved lemon and olives, tender and fragrant, and a royal couscous with lamb and vegetables, generous and delicious. To crown this feast, the Johara—a delicate almond cream pastilla, caramelized to perfection—was followed by Moroccan pastries and a glass of mint tea, a true symbol of hospitality and conviviality.

Oasis of Calm and Elegance

Riad Kniza offers its guests a haven of absolute relaxation thanks to its spa and sumptuous indoor pool. A true sanctuary of well-being, the spa features a traditional hammam, a sauna, and a range of massages and treatments inspired by Moroccan rituals, inviting guests on a unique sensory journey. At the heart of the patio, the pool enchants with its oriental elegance: shimmering turquoise waters blend with the reflections of green zellij and the finely carved arches that surround it. Hanging lanterns, white columns, and Moroccan benches create a soothing and refined setting, ideal for relaxing after a day exploring Marrakech.
