A true oasis of calm in the heart of Marrakech's medina, Riad Kheirredine is a luxury retreat made up of several riads, offering a refined and authentic experience. With its 14 sumptuous suites, spa, hammam, two swimming pools, and marble patios adorned with banana trees and fruit trees, this 5-star riad embodies Moroccan hospitality in all its splendor. The multi-level terrace, offering a breathtaking view of the Atlas Mountains, enhances this peaceful and elegant atmosphere, where Moroccan design is revealed in all its glory.
An Authentic and Peaceful Location Just Steps from the Souks
Riad Kheirredine is located in the northern part of Marrakech's medina, in a peaceful residential area, away from the hustle and bustle of the traditional souks. About a 20-minute walk from the souks and 25 minutes from the famous Djemaa el-Fna square, this location allows visitors to enjoy a tranquil setting while being close to major attractions. The walk to the heart of the medina through local streets adds an authentic dimension to the experience. Additionally, to facilitate travel, the riad provides a mobile phone and offers personalized assistance at any time of the day, ensuring peace of mind for guests, especially for a first stay in Marrakech.
Moroccan Design Enhanced by Luxurious Relaxation Spaces
Superbly renovated, Riad Kheirredine masterfully combines Moroccan tradition and modern comfort. Upon entering, you are welcomed into the reception patio, a green space where majestic plants surround a central fountain, creating a peaceful and soothing atmosphere. The lounges, decorated with high ceilings and Moroccan stucco, are bathed in light through large French doors. The three courtyards of the riad have been redesigned to meet different needs: the first is dedicated to the reception, the second houses a refreshing pool, and the third is an intimate dining area.
During our stay in July, we spent a pleasant afternoon in the inner courtyard by the pool. It was the perfect place to relax during the hot summer days, with the clear sky reflecting in the crystal-clear water. The cool water and shaded lounges offered the perfect refuge from the Moroccan heat.
The rooms, spread over three floors, are accessible via winding staircases leading to a splendid rooftop terrace. This true outdoor living space, with sun loungers, shaded sitting areas, a heated pool, and a dining area, offers a breathtaking view of the medina rooftops and the Atlas Mountains, inviting absolute relaxation. This second pool is ideal during the winter season when the sun is a welcome warm-up.
Privacy and Elegance in the 14 Rooms and Suites
Riad Kheirredine offers absolute privacy with only 14 keys, each uniquely decorated. They are adorned with sumptuous brocade curtains, characterful furniture, and large beds covered with silk cushions and cashmere bedspreads, creating an elegant and refined ambiance. The bathrooms, finished in polished tadelakt and adorned with zellige details, vary in size and are mainly equipped with showers. However, the two Imperial Suites stand out with their showers and large freestanding bathtubs.
We stayed in one of these suites named 'Sandal,' a 42 m² suite that harmoniously combines authentic Moroccan style with a subtle Italian touch. This spacious suite features a sitting area with a fireplace, perfect for chilly winter evenings, a private balcony, and a most romantic sleeping area, offering an intimate and cozy atmosphere.
An Exceptional Breakfast
Breakfast at Riad Kheirredine is a true gastronomic experience that you can enjoy at any time and in the location of your choice: in your room, by the pool, on the rooftop terrace, or, as we did, in the coolness of the patio which serves as the restaurant. This enchanting setting is a real asset, but it's also the quality of the dishes that impresses, worthy of the best riads in Marrakech. Large trays filled with fresh bread and Moroccan crepes, fresh fruit, pastries, and a delicious lemon cake are offered, accompanied by eggs prepared to your liking.
Romantic Dinner and Authentic Flavors
Riad Kheirredine offers an unforgettable dining experience, reserved for residents, with dinners that celebrate both Italian and Moroccan culinary traditions. Under the direction of Italian owners, the menu skillfully blends Mediterranean flavors with local ingredients, offering a culinary journey that crosses Italy, Spain, and France, while enriching Moroccan cuisine. Dining on the riad's terrace, with a stunning view of Marrakech, is a magical experience. For a more intimate ambiance, another space allows you to enjoy your meal in peace, facing a verdant patio, bathed in the soft sunlight filtering through the foliage. During the cooler months, an open fire adds comforting warmth, creating a cozy and refined atmosphere.
We had the privilege of enjoying a private dinner by the pool, a highly romantic gesture carefully organized by the riad. The setting was simply enchanting, with a table elegantly set with a large white tablecloth, scattered with rose petals. This moment together will remain etched in our memories, marked by the beauty and intimacy of the decor, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special occasion.
As for flavors, we were transported by the richness of Moroccan cuisine. We started with an assortment of Moroccan salads, a true festival of textures and tastes, from the crunch of cumin-marinated carrots to the sweetness of confit eggplant, to the freshness of spiced tomatoes, accompanied by crispy vegetable and cheese briouats.
The harira that followed, this iconic Moroccan soup, enveloped us with its warm aromas. Its richness in lentils and spices reminded us of the comforting nature of Moroccan traditions. For the main courses, we were amazed by the lemon confit chicken tagine and another of lamb with dried apricots and almonds, the latter offering a fascinating contrast between the sweetness of the fruit and the tenderness of the meat, enhanced by a light touch of cinnamon and honey.
To conclude this culinary journey, a milk pastilla, light and flavored with orange blossom, awakened our senses with its creamy sweetness and fresh fruits. It was accompanied by Moroccan pastries. The whole meal ended with a traditional mint tea, which perfectly complemented this romantic and memorable dinner.
The riad also offers excellent room service, available at any time, whether you're in your room or one of the elegant common areas. We had the opportunity to enjoy it upon our arrival, ordering a quick and light lunch which we savored on our private terrace in an intimate and peaceful setting.
The Spa Experience at Riad Kheirredine
The spa at Riad Kheirredine offers a total immersion in Moroccan tradition with its luxurious hammam. In this soothing setting, surrounded by mosaics and gentle steam, you can enjoy body scrubs and massages performed by qualified therapists. The treatments use natural products like black soap and argan oil for an authentic wellness experience. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to try it.
