Japanese Cuisine at the Heart of Jumeirah Beach Luxury
FIVE LUXE is a brand new luxury beachfront resort, ideally located along the beautiful shores of Jumeirah Beach in Dubai (JBR). This hotel embodies a perfect mix of modern sophistication and vibrant energy, offering guests a unique experience where glamour and luxury meet. With its sumptuous rooms and suites, as well as opulent residences, FIVE Luxe is designed to offer unparalleled comfort and elegance.
At the heart of this luxurious environment is Ronin, a restaurant inspired by the Japanese art of Irezumi to offer an authentic culinary experience. It's the ideal place for lovers of Japanese cuisine looking for sushi, sashimi, and other delicacies prepared with precision and creativity. The restaurant perfectly fits the vibrant atmosphere of the hotel, offering both a chic setting and a festive ambiance, where Japanese flavors meet culinary excellence.
Samurai Ambiance and Stunning Views
Perched on the 9th floor, Ronin offers a dining experience that blends Japanese tradition and vibrant modernity, all with a breathtaking view of Dubai. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a striking decor, where walls are adorned with hand-painted samurais and patterns reminiscent of traditional Japanese tattoos, paying tribute to the ronin, masterless samurais during the feudal period. The restaurant's style evokes the essence of ancient Japan, with its pagoda tables creating an intimate atmosphere, and a modern twist with its sushi bar and teppanyaki stations where chefs demonstrate their skills with elegance. The subtly present house music adds a touch of dynamism without ever disturbing the conversation, creating a perfect atmosphere for a festive dinner.
The ambiance is enhanced by breathtaking panoramic views of the Dubai Eye, Palm Jumeirah, and the Arabian Gulf, which can also be enjoyed from the large outdoor terrace or from the comfortable private dining rooms, ideal for special occasions. Before dining, the outdoor bar is perfect for watching talented bartenders at work while sipping creative cocktails.
Culinary Journey Between Japanese Tradition and Modern Creations
Under the direction of the renowned Chef Sin Keun Choi, also known as Chef SK, Ronin offers a gastronomic adventure that celebrates Japanese culinary art in all its glory. Originally from Busan, South Korea, and with over 15 years of experience across Asia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East, Chef SK has found his true passion in Japanese cuisine, which he expresses with mastery and creativity. Ronin's menu is a true ode to Japanese and Asian flavors, offering a variety of delicious options that go well beyond classic sushi.
Guests can feast on perfectly grilled robatayaki skewers, tasty gyozas, sushi and maki of incomparable freshness, as well as dishes prepared at the live teppanyaki station. For those looking for a tailored culinary experience, the omakase menu offers a selection of the chef's favorite dishes, carefully chosen to surprise and delight the most discerning palates.
We had the pleasure of tasting a menu specially crafted for us. The appetizers were a true celebration of Asian cuisine. We enjoyed a warm and comforting miso soup, followed by California maki, where crab, avocado, cucumber, and green apple were harmoniously combined, all enhanced by a subtly iodized tobiko mayonnaise. The Aburi salmon sushi, with salmon delicately grilled on the surface, added an extra touch of sophistication, blending a melting texture with a light smoky flavor.
The continuation of our meal allowed us to discover dishes grilled on the binchotan, a traditional Japanese barbecue, which imparts a unique flavor to the meat. The chicken yakitori, tender and juicy, and the Yaki Niku Kushi, beef skewers subtly marinated in BBQ miso and sprinkled with fresh chives, were grilled to perfection. Each bite offered a perfect balance between sweetness and smokiness.
We then continued our culinary journey with a rich and savory beef fried rice and a beautifully glazed salmon teriyaki, accompanied by soft white rice, which perfectly matched the sweet and salty nuances of the dish.
To conclude this feast in style, we enjoyed mango, lychee, and chocolate mochis. These Japanese treats, with a texture both soft and elastic, provided a refreshing and delicate final note, closing our meal on a deliciously sweet note.
My Review
This dinner at Ronin was an immersive experience where refined ambiance and inspired decor compete with high-flying gastronomy. The enchanting atmosphere, created by samurai and tattoo motifs, blends perfectly with the dimmed lighting and stunning views of Dubai, offering a setting that is both elegant and modern. The cuisine, led by the talented Chef SK, elevates traditional Japanese flavors with a contemporary touch. Every detail, from the design to the menu, is designed to offer a complete sensory experience.
