1. Authors' Lounge
Located on the ground floor of the original Oriental Hotel, the Authors' Lounge embodies the charm of the early 1900s. Furnished with turn-of-the-century style wicker furniture and hand-painted fabrics, it creates the perfect backdrop for framed photographs of famous writers who have stayed at the hotel since the late nineteenth century. Famous for its traditional afternoon tea featuring delicate finger sandwiches, pastries, freshly-baked scones, and home-made jams, the lounge offers a truly unique experience and is one of the most photographed locations in Bangkok.
The lounge upholds a smart dress code for all guests, including children. Ladies are required to wear elegant attire and proper footwear, while gentlemen must wear long trousers and closed shoes. Sleeveless shirts for gentlemen are not permitted at any time of the day.
Ideal for those seeking a small, intimate gathering, the lounge provides four private adjoining lounges. Whether it's for a relaxing afternoon or a small meeting, the Authors' Lounge offers an ambiance that is both historic and elegant, honoring the tradition of afternoon tea in Bangkok.
