Ireland: Pastoral Getaway at the Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa
To end our fantastic two-week road trip through Ireland on a high note, we decided to stay just outside of Dublin at the Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa. Featuring a spectacular natural environment in a 40-hectare estate, this five-star haven of peace is the ideal place to revitalize oneself. Come with me for a visit!
A Bucolic Green Setting a Stone's Throw from Dublin
Just 30 minutes outside of the Irish capital, the Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa is a five-star establishment surrounded by greenery. Situated in the heart of Powerscourt Estate, a gorgeous domain with a historic building and beautiful gardens (which we of course visited), a waterfall—the highest in Ireland—and a golf course, it's the perfect place to spend a few relaxing days, with natural beauty everywhere you look.
Cozy Rooms and Suites
The hotel's 196 ultra-comfortable rooms and suites are found in a Palladian-style building facing the Great Sugar Loaf Mountain. We spent two nights in the spacious (66 m²) Mountain View Suite, with an interior design that perfectly matches the hotel's natural surroundings. The walk-in closet and marble bathroom (with a series of beauty products by ESPA) bring the finishing touches to this comfy cocoon.
As soon as I walked into the hotel, I was enchanted by the lobby, which radiates a certain grandeur with its impressive chandeliers, huge staircases, and picture windows offering an exceptional view of the surrounding landscape and the Great Sugar Loaf in the distance. Every afternoon, guests can take a seat at the Sugar Loaf Lounge to partake of the hotel's famous afternoon tea, an absolutely delicious treat.
Powerscourt's Best Feature: Its Incredible Spa
One of the Powerscourt Hotel's best assets is of course the incredible spa; many guests come especially to relax there. This wellness space rolls out the red carpet over two floors, with 20 treatment rooms (including a spa suite), a 20-meter pool illuminated with Swarovski crystals, and a café for peckish visitors. I surrendered myself over to my expert therapist, choosing the “Natural Facelift” facial treatment. This most recent addition to the spa's treatment menu features a combination of ESPA brand products with Japanese Kobido massage for firmer skin—a natural facelift.
Modern, Relaxed Cuisine to Finish a Wonderful Day
After my relaxing afternoon at the spa, I could think of nothing better than to finish my day with a delicious dinner! The hotel's signature restaurant, the Sika, offers dishes that emphasize high-quality regional products and modern Irish recipes, accompanied by a fantastic wine list with plenty of international options. The three-course menu, which changes every season, is truly a delight for your taste buds, guaranteeing a wonderful evening.
For more relaxed cuisine, head to McGills, which we checked out on our second evening! This Irish pub proposes an excellent selection of beers, whiskeys, and typical fare, such as fish and chips or their famous burger.
I loved:
- It's hard to get bored on this estate, with a golf course, a beautiful building you can tour, a distillery, and the hotel's various facilities
- Top-notch treatments at the spa
- Just a stone's throw outside of Dublin, but surrounded by greenery
I disliked:
- Difficult to find a place to eat: there are only a few tables in each restaurant, so you have to reserve one or risk not finding a place to eat. When the hotel is fully booked, it's a serious challenge!
Practical Information:
Thank you the Powerscourt Hotel for the invitation to explore their establishment.Of course, the content of this blogpost was left entirely up to me!
