To beautifully end my road trip in Ireland, there is nothing like a superb hotel with spa to relax ! It was only 10 km from the small town of Killarney that I found my happy place staying at the Europe Hotel, a 5 star establishment offering fabulous surroundings !
A perfect communion with nature
The Europe Hotel offers plenty of surprises for its guests but it is, above all, its exceptional location on the rugged banks of lake Killarney that makes it so attractive ! Right from the lobby, you are amazed by the panoramic view of the lake in the forefront and the McGillycuddy Reeks massif in the background. The very large lobby with its impressive high ceilings display a warm and refined decor. Its large fireplaces and the presence of wood and fabric in natural colors make it a very cosy place where you instantly want to relax around a cup of coffee.
The 187 rooms and suites offer a view on the lack or on the golf course. I choose a room with a lake view and it was unthinkable for me to miss this beautiful show especially since my balcony enabled me to sit comfortably. On the style, the classic and elegant notes are quite in keeping with the tone of the hotel.
In terms of food, there was quite a choice : the Panorama restaurant really lives up to its name with its immense bay windows. You can enjoy the idyllic setting while dining international or Irish food. For dinner, I settled for the Brasserie that offers more informal food and on pleasant days you can sit on the terrace. A bar and the Spa Café complete the gastronomic offering from this establishment.
Harmony and relaxation at the spa
As you will notice, this place’s major asset is without a doubt the breathtaking view on Irish nature and this is the spirit in which the “ESPA the Europe” was created. It is a place of relaxation with the beautiful backdrop of lake Killarney. This 4500 m2 cocoon of well-being is dedicated to the body and mind and is also one of Ireland’s largest spas. On 2 levels, it offers a wide range of rooms that are dedicated to pampering and fitness : 16 treatment rooms, a double room for couples, a 20 m indoor swimming pool and an indoor/outdoor revitalizing pool. I spent this afternoon relaxing on a deckchair by the large bay windows, a lovely way to end this Irish trip!
I loved :
- The exceptional view
- The proximity to several centers of interest : you can easily spend several nights there exploring the richness of the region.
I disliked :
- The breakfast below my expectations.
- A spa that lacks a little bit of class, its huge size and the significant number of rooms does not allow for intimacy.
- The rather high price.
- Price : Offers available on their website from 180€. Double superior room with lake view at 330€ for the month of April 2016.
- The town of Killarney and its national park offers you numerous activities. Don’t miss my article on what to do in the region.
