Located in the South Malé atoll, 40 minutes by boat from the airport, the Como Cocoa Island will soon reopen its doors after an impressive renovation of this luxury hotel opened in 2002.
The renovation of the sublime private island enhances the natural beauty of the place, but also focuses on well-being with the COMO Shambhala Retreat. The facilities are spread out to maximize the feeling of intimacy and tranquility, with hammocks and swings suspended from trees. The spa has 4 treatment rooms, 2 of which are more spacious for couples, a Pilates and yoga studio, with the latter elevated to enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of the lagoon. This haven of peace is completed by a hydrotherapy pool.
The 34 overwater villas have also been carefully renovated to create contemporary interiors with clean lines, all designed by the Lekker Architects firm based in Singapore. The use of natural materials has been a real guiding thread: thatched kajan roofs, Maldivian coral walls, and wood. Some rooms are extended by pools.
To complement the well-being experience, COMO Shambhala cuisine is available on all menus, allowing guests to follow vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, nutrient-rich, and additive-free diets during their stay. Other dining options are available at the station's Ufaa restaurant, such as Mediterranean, Indian, and Maldivian cuisine, including excellent local seafood.
For activities, there is plenty of choice with the Cocoa PADI diving center located on the island, as well as free water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing, and snorkeling. Excursions such as diving to observe reefs, wrecks, whale sharks, and night diving can be arranged.
