The Aman group, established in 1988 with the intention of creating a collection of intimate retreats with warm and unpretentious hospitality, continues its expansion in Japan. With 40 addresses in 22 destinations around the world and a new luxury hotel in New York next year, it will celebrate the opening of its fourth Japanese address in 2023 in the Niseko region near Hokkaido on a 187-hectare site.
With only a handful of rooms (30 only), high-end wellness facilities and a refined dining experience, it will also feature exclusive Aman residences.
The Niseko region is renowned for its winter activities, but summer also offers beautiful moments: hiking, mountain biking, and rafting in a stunning landscape with mountains, forests, and rivers. Aman Niseko will be just a few minutes from the restaurants, museums, cultural attractions, and entertainment of the five main Niseko districts: Moiwa, Hirafu, Niseko Village, Annupuri, and Hanazono.
It will reference the Japanese ryokan (traditional inn), with spectacular views of the forests and mountains, as well as private terraces, furo baths in each suite and onsen facilities. The interiors imagined by Kerry Hill Architects will bring warmth and depth, and the feeling of bringing nature inside, with a wooden touch.
Experiences will naturally play a major role in this Aman establishment; custom-made retreat protocols, designed after private consultation with each guest, will offer the benefits of spa rituals and Japanese and Western treatments, as well as fitness and mindfulness meditation activities, combined with balanced cuisine for better health and increased energy.
The Aman Spa will offer extensive thermal facilities, including Finnish saunas, a Watsu room, cold water pools, hammams, experimental showers, and onsens. An indoor pool and an aqua fitness pool will open onto an outdoor terrace with a spectacular view of nature.
In terms of gastronomy, Aman Niseko will offer both elegant cuisine - Japanese and Italian with the global concepts of Nama and Arva, as well as seasonal cuisine - comforting international cuisine for the winter or with lighter flavors for the summer season.
