Parisian History and Modernity at Hôtel Bowmann

In the heart of Paris’s “Golden Triangle,” a boutique hotel with only 53 rooms and suites opened its doors last December, much to the happiness of travelers seeking an immersion experience in the French capital! This Haussmannian building features a combination of Parisian charm and contemporary style thanks to an excellent renovation, while the restaurant 99 Haussmann and the Lacure Officine spa offer the finishing touches to this five-star establishment.

Just a stone’s throw away from Paris’s grand central boulevards and the Parc Monceau, Hôtel Bowmann opened to the public only a few months ago. Its architecture is emblematic of the city, with a Haussmannian cut stone facade and molding, as well as elegant balconies that evoke the pomp of days gone by. As soon as you enter the lobby you can see the results of the recent renovation, which has combined the building’s rich architectural heritage with top-notch modern amenities for the 21st-century traveler.

A Charming Mix of Styles

In the hotel’s 48 rooms and 5 suites, the style of the Haussmannian apartment with modern comforts continues. The solid wood parquet floor and crown molding juxtapose Maison Charles lamps and designer furniture, such as golden and chrome-colored armchairs, leather-covered headboards, and console tables that mix brass and marble. As for the bathrooms, they’re arranged like dressing rooms, completely made of marble and featuring heated floors. The smallest room category starts at 21 to 24 m², while the top-of-the-line Bowmann Suite covers 100 m². The suite includes an equally large terrace with a panoramic view of Paris, and a jacuzzi to top it all off!

99 Haussmann: Bistro-Style Cuisine

At the restaurant 99 Haussmann, chef Gregory Cohen offers bistro-style cuisine in a warm and friendly dining room, or on the patio when the weather is nice. Gourmet recipes on offer include the fois gras with truffle emulsion as an appetizer, or butternut squash for a healthier option. Next up is the black cod with venere rice, which took us straight back to Japan, or the slow-cooked milk-fed lamb for meat lovers. Those with a sweet tooth are in for a treat with the surprisingly light Mont Blanc millefeuille, or perhaps the mango and passion fruit tart. As for the bar, it’s the ideal place to begin or end the evening with a signature cocktail in a fabulously cozy setting.

An Urban Spa

The Lacure Officine spa rolls out the red carpet for both hotel guests and external clientele. This urban haven of relaxation includes two treatment rooms (one of which is a double), as well as a wellness space with jacuzzi, a hammam underneath a golden mosaic, and a sizeable heated pool with a sapphire-blue floor. As for the spa treatment menu, it offers an approach combining beauty and relaxation, with products from the Lacure Officine brand. Focused on prolonging a youthful appearance, these products are also designed to contribute to your overall well-being. The black orchid enhancing treatment, one of the spa’s signature massages, is perfectly geared toward those suffering from stress, offering an hour of muscular relaxation.

I loved:

  • Even though the spa is petite, it’s very high-quality!
  • The charm of a boutique hotel with just a handful of rooms

I disliked:

  • The rooms in the first categories are too small

The Verdict

In this freshly-opened five-star boutique hotel, guests can live the Parisian life for a few days in a human-scale setting. Hôtel Bowmann has a historic Parisian heritage, but it’s also equipped with the best in modern comfort. The 99 Haussmann restaurant with its bistro-style cuisine and the gorgeous spa with its spacious pool are the finishing touches to this urban hotel, a must-see for chic travelers!
