Maserati Road Trip with Edel & Stark

As you may know, I’m a fan of beautiful cars, especially sports cars. Last year, I told you about my experience driving hot rods in Canada along one of the world’s most beautiful highways. This year, the back roads of Switzerland were my playground! I discovered Edel & Stark, a luxury car rental service, which offered me the glorious opportunity to spend three days with a Maserati GranCabrio.

A Wide Selection of Sports Cars

The adventure began in Zurich. We landed early Monday afternoon and had arranged to pick up our car directly at the airport. Quick introduction – Edel & Stark provides a luxury car rental service in Europe and the United Arab Emirates. There’s something for everyone: fans of sports cars can opt for a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, those who prioritize optimal comfort might lean toward a luxury sedan such as a Bentley or Rolls Royce, and SUV lovers will fall for a Mercedes 4×4 or a Range Rover. As for me, the Maserati GranCabrio caught my eye, so I took the chance to explore the famous Italian brand for the first time in my life.

VIP Service

When it comes to logistics, Edel & Stark does everything to please their clientele: they can deliver and pick up a car wherever their customer would like, be it at the airport upon landing or at a hotel or private residence. We decided to have ours delivered at the Zurich airport, and three days later the car was picked up in Lucerne. Their flexibility was much appreciated!

More on Our Experience

From an aesthetic point of view, the Maserati GranCabrio is a gem! Ours looked truly fantastic with its midnight blue paint and beige leather interior. The trunk is very small, so make sure you bring the bare minimum. It’s a small sacrifice to make for so much fun! The V8 engine has 460 horsepower and a maximum speed of 291 km/h (181 mph). An excellent sports car for thrill-seekers!

The Maserati GranCabrio, truly a gem!

The Maserati GranCabrio is the perfect compromise: if you drive slowly it’s smooth and comfortable, but it transforms into a race car as soon as your foot brushes the accelerator. You need only turn the key to hear the gentle hum of the engine, especially once you’ve engaged the “sport” button, opening the two exhaust valves. Then the sounds become more melodious, more sporty, and all you want to do is drive off with your hair blowing in the wind.

Switzerland, the Perfect Destination for a Luxury Road Trip

Switzerland was the ideal location for our drive. Small winding roads, verdant mountains, endless lakes—it’s the perfect place to try out a sports car. I should mention that in late August, the blue skies and the temperature hovering around 30°C contributed to our experience. We discovered some superb spots, including lovely side roads and some of the country’s best hotels where we stopped for lunch or coffee with a view.

If you’re not ready to plan your own road trip (or you lack the time/desire to do it), the Edel & Stark team can do the planning for you. From recommended routes to hotels and restaurants, they’ll design the perfect road trip while adjusting to your preferences. You can also opt for a limousine service with chauffeur, as well as private jets and yachts to facilitate your arrival.

The Verdict

I was absolutely delighted with Edel & Stark and their luxury rental car service. First off, I was blown away by the wide selection; with sports cars, sedans, convertibles, and SUVs, there’s something for everyone in their European and Emirati establishments. Their delivery and pick-up service was top-notch and their flexibility certainly made planning a lot easier! As for me, my head was in the clouds for the three days I had the Maserati. Now I’m dwelling on an important question: which car will I choose next time? Quite the dilemma!
