Welcome to Hong Kong! Capital of Asia, I was really excited to discover this city with its record density and its ever higher buildings. The Ritz Carlton has settle in the tallest building in the city (which is also the 7th highest in the world), so much to say that the view is breathtaking! A little visit is necessary, follow me I explain everything in detail!
This wonderful establishment occupies an attractive position: you are in the front row facing Victoria Bay and Hong Kong Island. Ten minutes of taxi and you are in the main tourist spots of the capital. It is in this ideal environment that the Carlton chain has created one of the most beautiful hotels in Hong Kong.
An exclusive place
The arrival is princely: splendid cars are parked in front of the hotel, some more beautiful than others. Here we are in a palace, the tone is set! From the lobby on the 103rd floor, I am astound by the beauty of the place: a very elegant decoration with dark colors. When I arrived around 2pm, it was bustling with people: you have to say that this hotel offers 312 rooms which is far from the privacy you can find in a boutique hotel.
Major asset: the view
What really sets it apart from the other luxury addresses Hong Kong offers is its view! All rooms offer a panoramic view of the city or the bay for the most beautiful suites. There are 10 categories of rooms, the smallest of which is 50 m2 and 5 categories of suites, to meet the requirement of guests staying here.
My favorite: The Carlton Suite
The Carlton Suite is a real wonder: 180 m2 of pure happiness, a 180 ° view that catches the eye through the huge picture windows on the bay and the islands far ahead, in short the superlatives are not enough to describe this suite. A spacious living room and dining room allows you to eat in your room, a huge and luxurious bathroom, one is in the luxury hotel and it shows! The atmosphere is ultra-warm but also very chic; you could spend days between the walls of this suite.
The food, let’s talk about it!
Regarding gastronomy, between the Cantonese 2 Michelin star restaurant Tin Lung Heen and the Italian restaurant 1 Michelin star Tosca, the choice is vast. To this we add the Café 103, more casual for a lunch or a dinner but especially for the afternoon tea special chocolate. The caviar bar is a very nice concept which allows enjoying in privacy (7 seats only) caviar accompanied by Champagne or vodka.
My choice was an afternoon tea at the Lounge bar. You cannot get enough of the view of the bay while enjoying delicious sandwiches and pastries accompanied by a jasmine tea.
The spa, a well-being cocoon
Obviously, the happiness would not be complete without going through the Ritz spa. The brand ESPA has been chosen to accompany you in this moment of pure relaxation. The care is provided in one of the 9 cabins while 2 others are arranged for the couples and will allow you to pass an unforgettable moment in couple. Typical Asian treatments, more western massages, here is the wide range of services that offers you this place of rest, without forgetting again and again the view to more than 400 meters of the ground. There is also a large swimming pool where you can unwind after a tiring day on the streets of Hong Kong.
The show stopper: Ozone
I must admit that I was so excited to discover the world’s tallest bar: imagine that the Ozone bar on the 118th floor offers you one of the most beautiful views in the world. But as things do not necessarily always happen the way we want to, the weather that night is fickle, we are literally head in the clouds, impossible to see anything.
I enjoy the indoor environment of this bar, halfway between a lounge bar and a club. We are on a Wednesday night so the atmosphere is rather quiet which is not necessarily the case on the weekend when this place becomes a trendy place to go out in Hong Kong.
The menu offers many cocktails and spirits as well as Asian-inspired tapas. The decoration is chic, the atmosphere very good with people of all ages, in short what to have a memorable evening!
- Rooms starting at € 800 per night. Reserve yours on the Booking website
- I recommend you to spend about 3 nights in Hong Kong which will allow you to visit the city’s main attractions
- Hong Kong is an ideal stopping point before traveling to another Asian country where there is no direct flight.
A big thank you to the Ritz Carlton for their invitation to explore their establishment. Of course, the remarks and observations in this blog post are all my own!
