To build their new hotel, the famous Dubai-based company Jumeirah chose the northwest coast of the island of Mallorca, in a breathtaking natural setting. Surrounded by sea and sky, the Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa attracts both couples and families, though when I visited in early April the clientele was mostly made up of adults. Come with me to explore this five-star seaside resort, only a two-hour flight from Paris!
Perched on a Hillside
One of Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa’s best features is its beautiful environment, situated between the mountains and the sea; to one side is the beautiful Serra de Tramuntana range, a Unesco World Heritage site (you might remember that we stayed right next to these mountains a couple of nights before, at the Belmond la Residencia), and to the other is Sóller Bay. Designed to look like an ocean liner moving into the water, this five-star establishment is enormous, and can even be something of a confusing maze at times! The rooms are spread out among 11 buildings located in the heart of a Mediterranean garden.
If you’re looking for seaside relaxation, the two infinity pools – one of which is reserved for adults only to guarantee peace and quiet – are the perfect place to go!
My Grande Deluxe Room with Mountain View
As soon as you enter one of the 121 rooms and suites, you feel ready to relax. The balcony offers an unobstructed view either of the mountains or of the bright blue Mediterranean Sea below, while the hotel’s interior design is both elegant and subdued. The comfortable, well-lit rooms feature a neutral palette of colors punctuated by more colorful accents, lending them a modern and soothing ambience. The Jumeirah Company’s reputation for hospitality shines through with several thoughtful welcome gifts left out for guests, such as fruit and a bottle of locally-sourced olive oil.
A First-Rate Spa
A stay at Jumeirah Port Soller wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Spa Talise, which offers a 2200 m² space filled with every facility you need to relax: a steam bath, an ice fountain, a sauna, a relaxation room, and of course, a gorgeous heated pool where you can splash around while admiring the Tramuntana mountains. Treatments on offer in the spa’s ten treatment rooms include special regimens using local ingredients such as almond, lemon, or olives, unless you opt instead for a treatment using products from the Natura Bissé brand.
Restaurants in a Fabulous Setting
The Sunset Sushi Lounge is a great place to start your evening thanks to its 180° panoramic view. You can take in a creative cocktail accompanied by some sushi before heading to one of the restaurants. Es Fanals by Javier Soriano, Jumeirah Port Soller’s signature restaurant, proposes the best in Spanish cuisine, with tapas as well as meat and fish recipes that change every week. The restaurant’s open kitchen allows diners to admire the chefs’ choreography. We spent a wonderful evening there! The hotel’s other restaurant, Cap Roig Brasserie, offers Mediterranean cuisine in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea.
- The gorgeous, ever-changing view, with the sea to one side and the mountains and port to the other
- A fantastic spa with a good selection of treatments
- The variety and quality of the restaurants
- Breakfast was not up to five-star standards, whether it was the buffet or the made-to-order dishes… the most disappointing breakfast we had during our stay in Mallorca.
- More information available on their website
- Grand Deluxe Room with Mountain View starting at € 580/night in April 2019
Thank you the Jumeirah Port Soller for the invitation to explore their establishment. Of course, the content of this blogpost was left entirely up to me!
