8 Luxury Experiences in Bangkok

As you doubtless already know, I spent two months last spring in the city of Bangkok. It was an opportunity for me to try out quite a few new experiences! In this post, I’ll tell you about the eight luxury experiences that you cannot miss in Thailand’s capital!

Spend a night in your dream hotel

If you’ll remember, a few weeks ago I wrote about the five most luxurious hotels in Bangkok. And as you can tell, it’s the perfect city to stay at a five-star hotel for a bargain! There’s something for every traveler: super urban hotels in tall buildings right in the center of downtown, like the Park Hyatt which just opened its doors, or hotels with a view overlooking the river, with top-notch service and an unbeatable price!

Treat yourself to a meal in one of the world’s best restaurants

The rankings for the world’s best restaurants came out at the beginning of April, and guess what, Bangkok has several of them! I’d mention the famous Gaggan, ranked the best restaurant in Asia in 2017 and occupying 7th place in the worldwide listing, “50 Best.” This is also an occasion to try cuisines that you like from around the globe, as Bangkok offers more than just Thai food. You can find gourmet dining, as well as Italian, Japanese, or even French cuisine.

Take care of yourself at a spa

I had the opportunity to test several spas (though I’d have preferred to try more ^^) in Bangkok. I’ll admit that I particularly loved the spa at the Peninsula (read about it in this post), but it’s important to note that each luxury hotel has a spa that is excellent, both in terms of the quality of the treatments and the attractiveness of the location (often the main weakness of so many European establishments).

See the latest film as a VIP

Here’s a unique experience that’s hard to resist: go to a VIP cinema! Before seeing it myself, I simply couldn’t imagine that such a cinema would exist. I’ve written about it in this blog post if you want to know more. Viewing a film in these conditions is so fun, it’s hard to return to a “normal” movie theater!

Go shopping at a luxury mall

You need only check out the Siam Paragon or Central Embassy to understand that here, luxury shopping has an important role! Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior; you’ll see one international luxury brand after another, but you can also find some Thai brands that are trying to forge a path in the world of ready-to-wear luxury items. Familiar brands like H&M and Zara are juxtaposed with the most upscale boutiques. In short it’s a place you have to explore if you like shopping!

Take a cooking class

If you like Thai cuisine with all its unique flavors, why not take a class where you can learn the basics of this gastronomy? I’ve heard very positive feedback about the Blue Elephant, which will teach you how to make the classics of local cuisine.

Admire the view of the city from a rooftop

Bangkok is one of those cities where you mustn’t forget to try out a rooftop! There’s something for everyone: some roofs offer a 360° view of the city, like the Cru Champagne Bar, while others present a more intimate atmosphere, like the Speakeasy Bar at the hotel Muse. Seeing the sunset over the city with a cocktail in your hand is a moment you just can’t miss!

Enjoy an Afternoon Tea at the Mandarin Oriental

Always at the top of the rankings for the world’s best hotels, the Mandarin Oriental is truly an institution in Bangkok. Don’t miss out on the Afternoon Tea, which I’ve reviewed in more detail here! In an absolutely magical place, you’ll try the most refined dishes, and benefit from exceptional service! It’ll be an unforgettable experience during your stay!
